SMC Center for Pediatrics is the clinical practice setting for the family medicine residency program of Spartanburg Regional, a program designed to train physicians in the specialty of family medicine. Patients are seen by board-certified faculty pediatricians and resident physicians who are supervised by the pediatricians.
SMC Center for Pediatrics provides comprehensive, expert care for newborns, babies and children up to 18 years old. Our physicians are board certified in pediatrics, meaning they have undergone additional training in the care of children. Children’s healthcare needs are very different from adults, so it is important that they receive care specialized to those needs.
Our practice is a member of the Medical Group of the Carolinas, a large multi-specialty physician group serving the Upstate. Whether you need a primary care physician or a specialist, our doctors are dedicated to meeting your healthcare needs from wellness and prevention to the diagnosis and treatment of illnesses.

Well Child Visits
The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends regularly scheduled checkups. These checkups, usually called “well baby” or “well child” visits, give our physicians a chance to observe and assess your child’s health and development, and give you a chance to have questions or concerns addressed. Generally, parents should schedule appointments for well-child visits as follows:
- One to two weeks of age
- Two months*
- Four months*
- Six months*
- Nine months
- 12 months*
- 15 months*
- 8 months*
- Every two years from age 6 to 18
* Vaccinations are scheduled at this visit
Regional Call Center Services at 864-591-7999 can answer most questions about your child’s health after business hours.
Electronic Medical Records
SMC Center for Pediatrics uses electronic medical records (EMR). EMR enhances patient care as well as convenience. We can quickly access your child’s medical history and provide you with documentation on growth and development, as well as information on any illness or injury your child may have. Through EMR, our physicians are able to instantly transmit prescriptions to the pharmacy of your choice during your visit.
