Patients Can Receive Award Winning Cancer Care Close to Home
Greer, SC. - Gibbs Cancer Center & Research Institute is opening a new facility at Pelham, bringing its world class cancer treatments to patients in the Greer and surrounding areas.
Gibbs Cancer Center & Research Institute will celebrate a ribbon cutting for its newest facility at 10 a.m. on May 1, 2013 on the Village Hospital campus.
The new state of the art Gibbs Cancer Center at Pelham is a 10,000-square-foot facility offering radiation and medical oncology in one convenient location. Patients receiving treatment on the Pelham campus will have access to the same treatment review, as well as access to clinical trials available at Gibbs Cancer Center. Patients will greatly benefit from The Gibbs Cancer Center and Research Institutes affiliation with MD Anderson Cancer Center. In addition to quality cancer care, the new facility will continue the Gibbs Cancer Center tradition of offering healing features such as a including a garden and natural light.
“It is vital that we make our research-based care more convenient for patients across the Upstate,” says Dr. Timothy Yeatman, Director and President of the Gibbs Cancer Center & Research Institute. “The addition of services at Pelham is an exciting step in that direction.”
Gibbs Cancer Center practices patient-centered care by having each patient’s treatment plan reviewed by a team of physicians from various disciplines. These multidisciplinary conferences include various support staff, including a dietitian, genetic counselor and patient navigators.
“The new Center will provide a much more comprehensive level of care” says Yeatman. “This expansion benefits patients by joining the quality medical oncology services that Gibbs Cancer Center’s Palmetto Hematology Oncology has provided in the Greer community since 2006.”
