Dr. Lucas received his medical degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Medicine. He completed his residency at the Wake Forest Family Medicine program in Winston-Salem, NC, where he was elected chief resident. Dr. Lucas is a member of the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine (AMSSM).

As a third year resident, he received one of four national research grants from this society to investigate the effects of progesterone on concussion. Additionally, he received the resident role-model award given by the medical students at the Wake Forest School of Medicine. He completed his sports medicine fellowship at Wake Forest where he served as a team physician for Wake Forest University. He also worked with the UNC School of the Arts treating acute and overuse injuries in dancers and ballerinas.

Clinical Interest

His clinical interests include general sports and musculoskeletal injuries, concussion, ultrasound-guided injections, diagnostic ultrasound, and fracture care. He will continue his research efforts with Wake Forest Baptist Health as an adjunct clinical instructor.
