Additional Information

What are Dr. Parra’s favorite hobbies? “Spending quality time with my family, reading, working out and walking.”

How does Dr. Parra describe her care philosophy?  “I played sports growing up and my children are really involved with sports, so I like to take a team approach with my families. We are all in this together.

“My job is to help guide moms and dads through this amazing journey called parenting. I’m also very honest with my families. I learned a long time ago that parents know when you don’t know something or if you are hiding something, so it’s better to be upfront with them.”

What does Dr. Parra say to her patients to inspire them to strive for a healthier life?  “Pediatricians are in a unique position because we have to help children and their families in trying to make positive changes for their physical and mental wellbeing. I tell them that it’s a constant work in progress.

“The same things that my patients and families need to do (better eating, less processed foods/sugars, less screen time, more family dinners, more sleep for both kids and parents), I need to do, so it’s a great reminder for me, too.”

How long has Dr. Parra been in practice? “I have been a practicing pediatrician for 15 years.”

Why does Dr. Parra love to practice medicine? “I really love what I do. I am blessed to work with amazing people and take care of some incredible families. I celebrate real highs (new siblings) and lows (life-changing diagnoses) with them and a relationship that goes both ways is celebrated. No other profession can claim that.”

Why did Dr. Parra pursue a career in medicine?  “I knew that I wanted to be a pediatrician at 5 years of age. No joke, just ask my childhood friends. It really has been my life’s true passion.”
